Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about building, backtesting, and automating your strategies with Algosetrade.

General

What does Algosetrade do?

Algosetrade is a professional algorithmic trading platform for Indian derivative markets (NSE and BSE). It allows you to build, backtest, and automate the execution of multi-leg options and futures strategies without writing any code.

Do I need programming skills to use Algosetrade?

No. Algosetrade features a visual strategy builder where you can define complex logic — entries, strike selections, exits, trailing stops, and re-entries — using a structured, click-based interface. There is no scripting required.

Can I use Algosetrade on a mobile device?

Yes, the Algosetrade terminal is fully responsive. You can monitor your live positions, review backtest reports, and use the emergency kill switch from your smartphone or tablet.

Brokers & accounts

Which brokers are supported?

We support major SEBI-registered brokers with active API services, including Zerodha, Angel One, Upstox, Dhan, Fyers, Motilal Oswal, and others. The platform integrates directly using your broker's official API.

Can I try a strategy without risking money?

Yes. Paper trading runs your strategy on live market data without placing real orders, and it’s included in the free plan. When you’re satisfied with how the rules behave, you switch the same strategy to live on your own broker account. Paper-trading results are hypothetical and don’t guarantee live performance.

Security & risk management

Does Algosetrade hold my funds?

No. Your funds and positions always remain with your SEBI-registered broker. Algosetrade only routes orders to your broker through their API. We do not have the ability to withdraw or transfer your money.

What happens if my internet connection drops?

Your strategies run securely on our cloud infrastructure. If your local internet connection drops, your computer crashes, or you close your browser, your strategies will continue executing normally.

How does the portfolio loss lock work?

The MTM (mark-to-market) loss lock is a hard daily limit you set for your portfolio. If your total losses breach this threshold, Algosetrade automatically squares off all open positions and halts your strategies for the rest of the day.

Strategies & backtesting

Is backtesting free?

Yes, opening an account and using the backtester is completely free. You can test your strategies against historical tick data and review the performance metrics without risking real capital.

How many legs can a strategy have?

You can build custom structures with up to 8 legs in a single strategy, combining long and short positions on calls and puts as needed.
